Great Nonfiction
The job of the teacher is to translate the textbook into the vernacular.--Paul Halmos

Hey... I haven't got the table up yet, 'cuz I only have about four books so far, but check out these anyway.

The Man Who Never Was, by Ashley Montague

True and dazzling tale of one of the most dazzling and daring ploys in warfare. Told from the originator of the plot, this book describes in vivid detail one delightful way in which the Allies tricked the Gernams.

Passion and Purity, by Elizabeth Elliott

Excellent love story told in touching detail. A must-read, especially for singles or young couples.

Shakespeare:The Invention of the Human, by Harold Bloom

What can I say? Harold Bloom is probably the best literary critic I've ever read, and on Shakespeare, he's just... stunning. Read it.

Till We Have Faces, by C. S. Lewis

In this delightful allegory, Lewis parallels the old myth of Psyche with a story about humanity and God. Part fiction, part allegory, part Classic, and part theology, Lewis blends genres and truth in a fabulous work of literature.

The Winner Within, by Pat Riley

I read this for my Psychology of Sport class in my sophomore year. It's not just about winning sports games (thogh that's a large portion of it); it discusses teamwork and winning in the real world, too.
